Four Prior DUI Arrests On Records Of Recent Arrestee

Deputy Nearly Ran Over By Suspected Intoxicated Driver

Mesa County, Colo. -- A vehicle parked partially blocking the I-70 Business Loop near 32 Road, Clifton, yesterday around 5:20 p.m., caught the eye of a patrol deputy. Attempting to make contact with the driver of the vehicle, the deputy was nearly ran over, when the driver left the scene in a reckless manner. Moments later, deputies located the vehicle abandoned in a parking lot nearby and the driver was contacted walking in the area.

Jose Esparza-Treto, 38, of Grand Junction, was arrested for eluding and found to have 4 prior DUI convictions, while being suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol this evening. During the tow process of the vehicle he was driving, deputies located suspected methamphetamine.
