Crime Stoppers: Crime of the Week


GRAND JUNCTION, Colo - This week Crime Stoppers of Mesa County needs your help in locating the suspects that stole a vehicle parked on the 1900 block of North Avenue. 
Shortly after 5:35 p.m. on Saturday, July 22nd , the Grand Junction Police Officers responded to an auto theft in progress. The victim was checking into the Frontier Motor Lodge when he notice his vehicle driving away. 

The stolen vehicle is a 1999 white Ford Ranger truck bearing Colorado license plate BQV- 188. A Green Bay Packers plaque was displayed in the back to cover up the broken sliding glass window. The total estimated property loss is over $2,500.

Update: Mesa County man arrested after overnight pursuit into Delta County

UPDATE: Trenton Miller, 38, was booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility this afternoon on the following charges: Vehicle Eluding (Class 5 Felony),  Prohibited Use of a Weapon (Class 2 Misdemeanor) , Unlawful Use of a Controlled Substance (Class 1 Misdemeanor),  and Reckless Driving (Class 2 Traffic Misdemeanor).

MESA COUNTY, Colo – Delta County Sheriff deputies arrested a Grand Junction man this morning wanted for eluding law enforcement in a pursuit that began in Mesa County overnight.

Trenton Miller, 38, was arrested near the Gunnison River after spending the night out in the elements.

Tuesday at 10:16 p.m. Mesa County Deputies responded to a report of a man making suicidal and homicidal threats.

911 dispatchers were told Miller was headed towards Delta/Montrose in a black Ford F-150 armed with a gun. Deputies were also informed Miller had made threats toward himself and another party in the Montrose area.

Deputies spotted Miller driving East on Highway 50. Miller failed to pull over and vehicle pursuit began.

Delta County Sheriff’s Office and Colorado State Patrol assisted in closing Highway 50 down at mile marker 60. Stop sticks were used to bring Miller’s vehicle safely to a stop at mile marker 62 in Delta County. Miller did not stay in his truck and ran on foot into the desert.

Mesa County Sheriff’s Office, MCSO SWAT Team, Delta County Sheriff’s Office, and Colorado State Patrol searched the area for Miller.

An emergency notification was sent out to residents within a 5 mile radius advising them to shelter in place.

Delta County Sheriff’s Office deputies located Miller Wednesday morning around 10:00 a.m. and arrested him on charges to include Vehicle Eluding (Class 5 Felony). His full list of charges are still pending.

Miller also has a warrant for an unrelated Grand Junction Police Department case.

The case is still under investigation.

Crime Stoppers: Crime of the Week


GRAND JUNCTION, Colo - This week Crime Stoppers of Mesa County needs your help in locating the suspects that were involved in vandalizing several properties. 

Sometime between 4:30 p.m. on Monday, December 4th and 7 a.m. on December 5th, unknown suspects spray painted graffiti on several properties, Two Rivers Convention Center, Fairfield Inn and Hampton Inn located on Main Street. Some of the monikers included: “One King,” F.T.L. Krew,” “Sleepy,” “Coke Eight Ball,” “Travieso,” and vulgar language.

Crime Stoppers: Crime of the Week

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo - This week Crime Stoppers is requesting information that will lead to the identification of the suspects involved in a burglary.

Sometime between 8 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 9th, unknown suspects cut the padlock to a shed in the backyard of a home located in the 2800 block of Valentino Way. While inside the shed, suspects removed two chainsaws, numerous hand tools, power tools and various other items used in  the victim’s handyman business. The total estimated damage and property loss is over $16,000.

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo - The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in identifying two people seen on surveillance video using a stolen credit card.

Two males are believed to have used a stolen credit card to make a large purchase at Love's Travel Stop located on the 400 block of 22 Road between the hours of 3:50 am and 4:20 am on October 7th, 2017. 

The credit card used to make the purchase was stolen during a burglary on the 2000 block of S. Broadway overnight on October 6th, 2017.

Join Mesa County Search and Rescue Ground Team!!

MESA COUNTY, Colo -  The Mesa County Search and Rescue Ground Team is looking for new members and is currently accepting applications.

The highly trained nonprofit professional rescue organization is looking for outdoor enthusiasts available to volunteer during the workweek. Members must be able to carry a 40lb pack over mountainous terrain and be willing to learn. All required skills will be taught during a 5 week course.

On average the Mesa County Search and Rescue Ground Team receives anywhere from 55 to 60 search and rescue missions a year throughout the Western Slope. From safely carrying out injured mountain bikers to finding lost individuals in the mountains, members are on call 24/7 to support the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office with any and all search and rescue efforts free of charge.  The team's goal is to help out those who are just having a bad day! 

If you love the outdoors and want to make a difference in people's lives and the community, this could be the organization for you!

All prospective members must first complete an application. Applications can be picked up at the front counter of the Sheriff’s Office during business hours or downloaded off our website.

Please note, anyone interested in becoming a new member must pass a background check and will have to go through an interview process. The deadline for turning in applications is Friday, December 29, 2017.

Rife man arrested on felony sex assault charges in Mesa County

MESA COUNTY, Colo - On Friday, December 1, 2017, Henry C. Higgins Jr., 63, of Rifle was arrested by Mesa County Sheriff's Deputies on one count of Sex assault on a Child (F4) and one count of Aggravated Incest (F3).

The alleged assaults took place between March of 2001 and March of 2004. 

Higgins is being held at the Mesa County Detention Facility without bond until his first appearance. 

The investigation is ongoing.
