Grand Junction man wanted for 43 counts of sex crimes on a child

MESA COUNTY, Colo - A 35-year-old Grand Junction man is wanted for more than 40 counts of sex crimes against children.

Kenneth Michael Weber, Jr. is believed to have committed unlawful sexual acts with three separate child victims between January 2013 and November 2016. Mesa County Sheriff's Investigators have obtained a warrant for his arrest.

Weber faces 43 counts of felony sex crime charges:
  • 12 counts of Sexual Assault on a child in a position of trust with a pattern of abuse, (Class 3 Felony).
  • 12 counts of Sexual Assault on a child in pattern of abuse, (Class 3 Felony).
  • 12 counts Aggravated Incest, (Class 3 Felony).
  • 4 counts of Patronizing a Prostituted Child, (Class 3 Felony).
  • 1 count of Soliciting for Child Prostitution, (Class 3 Felony).
  • 1 count Sexual Assault on a child in a position of trust, (Class 3 Felony).
  • 1 count Sexual Assault on a child (Class 4 Felony).
  • 4 counts of Jessica’s Law Enhancer. 
Weber is described as a 35-year-old white male. He is 5'8', 195 lbs and has brown hair and blue eyes. He is believed to be driving a white 1994 Chevy S10 with no tailgate, with the Colorado license  plate 860-UFE.

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo - Mesa County Sheriff's Deputies are asking the public's help to identify the suspects involved in an early morning burglary at Applewood Storage.

The burglary happened between 2:00 a.m. and 3:30 a.m Wednesday morning at Applewood Storage on 31 1/2 Road.

Deputies believe the suspects cut the lock to the facility and cut latches on two separate storage units. The male and female suspects appeared to have taken items from both storage units.

Both suspects were captured on surveillance cameras. The male was seen wearing a dark-colored baseball hat, and an Adidas black jacket. The female was wearing a dark-colored jacket and dark pants with white shoes.

MESA COUNTY, Colo - Mesa County Sheriff's Investigators obtained a felony warrant for Nicole Henderson, 45, of Grand Junction in connection to an embezzling case. She turned herself in Tuesday to the Mesa County Detention Facility.

Henderson is accused of embezzling $221,000 from Grand West Kia from January 2011 to June 2016. She faces the charge of Theft, Class 3 Felony.

Mesa County Sheriff's Investigators believe Henderson wrote checks to herself and other family members, but logged it in the accounting system under a legitimate payee.

Henderson is cooperating with investigators.

Teen arrested in connection to death investigation

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo – Stephanie Hauck, 14, was taken into custody in connection to the February 13th death investigation at 29 ½ Road after Mesa County Investigators obtained a warrant for her arrest.

Hauck is facing charges of Manslaughter, a Class 4 Felony, and Assault in the Second Degree with deadly weapon causing injury, a Class 4 Felony.

She is currently being held without Bond at Colorado Division of Youth Corrections’ Grand Mesa Youth Services Center.

Monday at 2:14 p.m., deputies responded to the 500 block of 29 ½ for a report of an obvious death. The Mesa County Coroner’s Office has identified the woman deceased as 61-year-old Linda Smith. The cause and the manner of death is still under investigation at this time.

All documents related to this case have been sealed by the court.

The investigation by the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office is still active and ongoing.

Wanted: Suspects using stolen credit cards

MESA COUNTY, Colo - The Mesa County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in identifying the people believed to be using stolen credit cards.

The cards were stolen out of a car January 28, 2017, then used at various stores in Grand Junction including Walmart, Herberger's, Victoria's Secret and Lids.

Two suspects were captured on surveillance video using the stolen credit cards at Walmart on January 29, 2017.  One was a male in a black hoodie believed to be stolen, and the other a female in a great hoodie.

There was also an unauthorized purchase at Herberger's on February 1, 2017 for over $900.  Two people were seen leaving the store, one in a dark-colored jacket, the other in a yellow Lakers Kobe Bryant basketball jersey and a purple Lakers hat.

A third male subject may also be involved. A short haired Hispanic male was seen during one of the transactions wearing a white top.

UPDATE: Recovered Urn reunited with owner

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo - The Mesa County Sheriff's Office was honored to reunite an Urn found among stolen property with its owner today.

21-year-old Sarah O. said she had placed the Urn containing her father's ashes in the center console of her car while she moved last November. When she went to retrieve it, it was gone.

Then, on Monday her friends saw the Mesa County Sheriff's Office post on Facebook about a found Keepsake Urn. Sarah said she couldn't believe it, she thought she would never see it again.

The Keepsake Urn was found among stolen property recovered on November 3, 2016. Deputies unable to find the rightful owner, turned to the public and the power of social media. Sarah was located in a matter of hours.

Urn with remains found, MCSO seeking owners

MESA COUNTY, Colo - The Mesa County Sheriff's Office is asking the public's help in locating the owners of an Urn housing remains that was possibly stolen in October or November of 2016.

The small decorative Keepsake Urn was found among other stolen property recovered on November 3, 2016.

Deputies have been unable to locate its rightful owner. The Mesa County Sheriff's Office would like to reunite the remains of this person with their loved ones.

The Keepsake Urn was found encased in a velvet blue box. It was possibly stolen out of a car at the end of October or early November.

Warrant obtained for second suspect in Palisade homicide

MESA COUNTY, Colo - The Mesa County Sheriff's Office Investigators have obtained an arrest warrant for Michael Anthony DuPont, 34, in connection with the October 16, 2016 homicide of Paul Davis.

DuPont is facing charges of Murder in the First Degree, Aggravated Robbery, and First Degree Burglary. 

He is currently being held at the Denver County Jail on a Parole Hold and unrelated drug charges. 

DuPont is the second suspect arrested on First Degree Murder charges in the case. Matthew Mitchell, 37, was arrested January 16, 2017 by the Aurora Police Department. Mitchell is currently being held at the Arapahoe County Jail.

All documents related to this case are still sealed by the courts. 

The investigation is still ongoing and the Mesa County Sheriff's Office anticipates more arrests will be made in connection to this case.

Wanted: Suspect(s) responsible for damage to FAA Radar Tower

MESA COUNTY, Colo - The Mesa County Sheriff's Office is asking the public's help to find the suspect(s) responsible for vandalizing a FAA Radar Tower.

Wednesday at about 4:30 p.m. Mesa County Sheriff's deputies responded to a report of vandalism at the FAA Radar Tower located in the desert off C Road.

The tower is used for airport operations. 

Deputies discovered an unknown person shot and damaged the radar dish. 

The tower had to be shut down to assess the damage. There were upwards of seven bullet strikes to the dish and a red warning light was broken.

The FAA is still assessing the extent of the damage. If it needs to be replaced, it will cost about $250,000. In the meantime, it is still in service and flights have not been affected.

Mesa County Sheriff's deputies believe the damage occurred within the last two weeks.

Traffic stop leads to 14 pounds of heroin seized

MESA COUNTY, Colo -  The Western Colorado Drug Task Force seized about 14 pounds of heroin during a traffic stop Tuesday morning.

Californians Ricky Medina, 24, and April Gomez, 23, were arrested on felony charges related to importing, distribution and possession of heroin.

About 10:30 Tuesday morning a Mesa County Sheriff's Office Task Force deputy stopped a black Nissan Altima on I-70 near milepost 28 after noticing the car didn't have a license plate and the front driver's side window was tinted extremely dark.

When speaking with the two occupants later identified as Media and Gomez, the deputy noticed a strong odor of raw marijuana coming from the car.

After getting consent to search the vehicle, the deputy found 6 large plastic wrapped packages behind a panel. The packages contained about 14 pounds of a substance that tested presumptive positive for heroin.

That amount, according to the deputies' arresting document is for more than personal use, but consistent with distribution.

Both Gomez and Media were booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility and are each being held on a $50,000 cash-only bond.

California man arrested on felony drug charges

MESA COUNTY, Colo - A California man is facing felony drug charges after Western Colorado Drug Task Force Officers found 13 ounces of meth during a traffic stop Wednesday.

Jerald Miller, 41, of Sun City, CA was arrested on felony charges related to importing, distribution and possession of methamphetamine, as well as possession of drug paraphernalia and tampering with physical evidence.

 Just after 10:00 Wednesday morning a Mesa County Sheriff's Office member of the Western Colorado Drug Task Force approached Miller's SUV after it abruptly exited I-70 at Mack.

The task force officer's K-9 Libby alerted to the presences of drugs. K-9 Libby is trained and certified to detect the odor of cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine and marijuana.

Marijuana and smoking paraphernalia was found inside the SUV. A backpack, believed to belong to Miller, was found abandoned on the offramp.  Inside officers found a plastic bag containing approximately 13 smaller baggies each containing about 1 ounce of a crystalline substance (13 ounces total). One of the baggies tested presumptive positive for methamphetamine. 

The amount found in Miller's bag is far more than personal use, but is consistent with distribution, according to the officer's documentations in his arrest report, .

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo - The Grand Junction Police Department is requesting information that will lead to the identification of a hit and run suspect.

Shortly after 2:20 p.m. on Monday, January 16th a female suspect was exiting the Target parking lot, located at 2424 Hwy 6 & 50 when she struck the victim’s silver 2010 KIA 4-door hatchback and left the scene of an accident. 

Target security cameras captured the image of a white female, 16 to 25 years of age, with brown hair and last seen wearing a white long sleeve shirt, blue jeans and black boots. Her vehicle was a white crew cab truck.

CLIFTON, Colo - The Mesa County Sheriff's Office is asking the public's help in identifying people involved in a suspicious incident at the C&F Food Store on 32 Road Saturday.

On 02/04/17 at about 10:44 a.m. a person is believed to have pointed a gun at a Mesa County Sheriff's Deputy while the deputy was parked at a gas station.

The male suspect was seen by a customer seated in a silver colored Toyota passenger car pointing what is believed to be a rifle or long gun at the deputy from the passenger vehicle. 

Surveillance video shows the male suspect wearing a red shirt and light-colored jacket. He is believed to be 45-55 years of age, traveling with another male, female and young boy.

The other male captured on video is thought to be his son  He is believed to be about 30-years-old and was seen wearing a hat and dark-colored clothing. The female, about 30-years-old, was seen walking with a juvenile male.

Suspicious object found Sunday being investigated

CLIFTON, Colo - The Mesa County Sheriff's Office and the Grand Junction Police Department Bomb Squad are investigating a suspicious device found Sunday near the Maverick gas station in Clifton.

At approximately 6:45 p.m. Sunday, a man found a suspicious object in the field behind the Clifton Maverick. The man took the object to the store, where an employee then called 911.

Mesa County Sheriff's deputies closed down the gas station and convenience store until the Bomb Squad came to collect the object. The store reopened at 9:38 p.m.

The Grand Junction Police Bomb Squad is still investigating what the object is and whether or not it was in fact dangerous. 

If anyone finds a suspicious object, do NOT touch it, or move it. Call 911 immediately.

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo - The Grand Junction Police Department needs your help to identify the female suspected of stealing an elderly victim’s wallet and using her credit card to make purchases. 

About 3 p.m. on Wednesday, December 28, 2016, the victim could not find her wallet to pay for her items at Walmart located at 2881 North Avenue. 

Shortly after, a white female used a credit card from the stolen wallet to purchase items at the same Walmart. The stolen credit card was used at a few more local businesses. 

The total estimated value of loss is over $500. Photos of the female subject were caught on surveillance video.
