Law Enforcement Responds To Domestic Violence Incident

Domestic Call Turns To Shooting, CIRT Activated

Mesa County, Colo. -- The suspect in this incident is identified as George Romero, 60, of Palisade. He was booked last night on the following charges:

  • Criminal Attempt
  • Homicide (attempted)
  • Menacing
  • Domestic Violence
  • Criminal Attempt
  • Homicide (attempted)
  • Menacing

No booking photo is available at this time and the affidavit and search warrants remain sealed. The case remains active and on-going and updates will be provided as they become available.

Mesa County, Colo. -- Minutes before 8 p.m., a 911 call came into the local dispatch of a domestic violence incident in the 3800 block of G Road, Palisade. The incident occurred in the County, with multiple deputies responding to the scene along with Palisade Police officers.

Gun shots were exchanged between the male suspect from the domestic violence incident and law enforcement. No one was hit or injured from a gun, although the female victim was checked out on scene by paramedics (but was not transported for any additional medical services).

The male suspect was taken into custody and transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility. As is standard procedure when law enforcement is involved in a shooting incident, the CIRT--Critical Incident Response Team, is activated to investigate.

Interviews and crime scene processing will continue through the night, however no additional updates are expected tonight.
