Teens Busted With Medical Marijuana, Wanted Man Arrested With Meth

Meth Arrest, Separate Teens Ticketed For Marijuana

Glen Knotts, 24, Unknown Residence
Mesa County, Colo. -- Street Crime Unit deputies conducted a traffic stop in the parking lot of a local grocery store yesterday afternoon. The vehicle stopped, had one adult male in it driving the vehicle, which he claimed belong to his girlfriend. Problem was, he was not valid to drive or operate a motor vehicle based his driver's license being revoked for an alcohol offense.

Glen Knotts, 24, was arrested on outstanding warrants and charged with offenses related to driving illegally. In addition, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia was located in the vehicle and a backpack, belonging to Glen. New charges associated with the drug were added to Glen's booking into the Mesa County Detention Facility, where he was booked without incident.

Earlier yesterday, just before noon, a deputy who is a local school resource officer, wrote tickets to two juveniles who were found smoking marijuana on school grounds and a third juvenile was issued a drug paraphernalia summons for possessing a marijuana smoking pipe (although he was not seen nor showed signs of being under the influence of marijuana). Of the three ticketed teens, two are 16-years-old and one is 15-years-old. A container with marijuana inside of it was located in their possession, and the container was marked "medical marijuana."  The 15-year-old was issued a summons for possession of marijuana and the other 16-year-old was issued the same summons and received an additional promise to appear in court on a charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, a felony charge.

Parents and citizens can attend a free community meeting about teens and marijuana use, held in the evening of March 4, 2014. For all the information about this community meeting, click here.
