Suspect Tries To Cash Stolen Checks At Bank
Mesa County, Colo. -- On Friday, just before 11 a.m., a man using a state issued identification card attempted to cash a business check that had previously been reported as stolen (to the Grand Junction Police Department). The astute bank teller, at the Alpine Bank in Clifton, notified deputies that a vehicle in the bank's drive-up had submitted a check for cashing, showing as stolen.
Deputies were able to make contact with the driver and only occupant of the suspect vehicle, where they located what they suspected to be stolen checks, state issued identification documents that didn't match the suspect and suspected methamphetamine and hypodermic needles/drug paraphernalia items.
Daniel Bloch, 22, who didn't provide a home address, was arrested and booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility on multiple charges related to criminal possession of a financial device, identity theft, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, drug paraphernalia and more.
