MESA COUNTY, Colo - At about 11:30 Saturday night, deputies responded to a report of an injured woman outside of the Bradley Sinclair Gas Station at 3218 F Road.
Deputies quickly learned the 32-year-old female had been assaulted with a knife during a domestic violence incident that occurred earlier in the evening in a vehicle. The female, along with other family members including two children, exited the vehicle at the gas station. The suspect drove away.
The female was transported to the hospital, was treated and released.
The suspect’s car was located at a residence on the 3200 block of Columba Drive. A warrant for his arrest was obtained. The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team assisted in checking the residence for the suspect. He was not found.
A few hours later the suspect, 34-year-old Estaban "Steven" Olivas, turned himself into the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office.
Olivas is being charged with one count of Assault in the First Degree with intent to cause serious bodily injury with a deadly weapon, one count of Assault in the Third Degree, two counts of Child Abuse Injury non-serious bodily injury prior convictions acts knowingly and reckless, and one count of Domestic Violence.
