Grand Junction man arrested for sex crimes on an at-risk child

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo - Mesa County Sheriff's deputies arrested Joshua Johnson, 37, after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Johnson is accused of several sex crimes stemming from an incident that occurred between July 16th and 17th, 2016 involving a child with special needs.

The charges he faces are: Sexual Assault on an At-risk Juvenile, (a class 2 Felony), Sexual Assault on an At-risk Juvenile under 15 years of age by a person in a position of trust, (a class 2 Felony), and Assault in the Third Degree on an At-risk Juvenile, (a class 6 Felony).

Johnson was booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility and is being held on a No Bond Hold until his first appearance.

The case is still under investigation.
