Man Missing After Jumping Into Gunnison River

Man Boating On Gunnison River, Missing

Mesa County, Colo. -- An adult male was reported missing by fellow boaters while on the Gunnison River, near Whitewater, at about 5:15 p.m. Initial information from those reportedly with the man were that he was not wearing a life jacket when he jumped into the Gunnison River.

Multiple people boating with the man reportedly searched for him and notified emergency responders. Multiple deputies along with members from the Mesa County Search and Rescue Control, Inc., with at least one boat from the agency, responded to the Whitewater boat ramp for entry into the Gunnison River. As of 7:40 p.m., the man was still unaccounted for.
