Clifton man arrested after motor vehicle theft


MESA COUNTY, Colo – Thursday at 9:40 p.m., Mesa County Sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of a male walking down the street with a gun in the area of the 500 block of 32 1/2 Rd. 

As deputies arrived in the area, a 911 call came in reporting the male stole a car at gunpoint. Deputies observed the stolen car in the area of 32 1/2 Rd and Lucile Ave and pursued it. The vehicle traveled north bound on 32 1/2 road at a high rate of speed with no headlamps on. The car hit a mailbox and parked trailer before eventually coming to a stop near 32 ½ Road and E ½ Road.

Nicolas Millican. 20, of Clifton was arrested at gunpoint. He is facing the following charges:
  • 2 Counts of Aggravated Robbery (Class 3 Felony)
  • 2 Counts of Menacing (Class 5 Felony)
  • Vehicular Eluding (Class 3 Felony)
  • 1st Degree Aggravated Motor Vehicle Theft (Class 4 Felony)
  • Drove Vehicle Without a Driver's License
  • 2 Counts of Failed to Remain At the Scene of a Crash (Class 1 Misdemeanor)
  • Speeding 40 MPH or More Over
  • Drove Without Headlamps On
  • Reckless Driving
  • Violation of a Protection Order (Class 1 Misdemeanor)
The victims were known to the suspect.

Millican was taken to the hospital to be medically cleared, then transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility. For updated bond amounts visit our website.
