Statement From Sheriff Matt Lewis
“I
am pleased this phase of the case is finally concluded. I agree with the decision to prosecute the
defendant in this case as an adult. As I said during the hearing, ‘I don’t
think another option would be something that would be acceptable to this community.’ Deputy Derek Geer dedicated his selfless
life to this community and will forever be remembered. We still have a long
road ahead of us, but are appreciative this phase of the case has been
decided.”
