UPDATE: Recovered Urn reunited with owner

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo - The Mesa County Sheriff's Office was honored to reunite an Urn found among stolen property with its owner today.

21-year-old Sarah O. said she had placed the Urn containing her father's ashes in the center console of her car while she moved last November. When she went to retrieve it, it was gone.

Then, on Monday her friends saw the Mesa County Sheriff's Office post on Facebook about a found Keepsake Urn. Sarah said she couldn't believe it, she thought she would never see it again.

The Keepsake Urn was found among stolen property recovered on November 3, 2016. Deputies unable to find the rightful owner, turned to the public and the power of social media. Sarah was located in a matter of hours.

Urn with remains found, MCSO seeking owners

MESA COUNTY, Colo - The Mesa County Sheriff's Office is asking the public's help in locating the owners of an Urn housing remains that was possibly stolen in October or November of 2016.

The small decorative Keepsake Urn was found among other stolen property recovered on November 3, 2016.

Velvet Box Urn was found in
Deputies have been unable to locate its rightful owner. The Mesa County Sheriff's Office would like to reunite the remains of this person with their loved ones.

The Keepsake Urn was found encased in a velvet blue box. It was possibly stolen out of a car at the end of October or early November.
