Spring Creek 2 fire expected to be 100 percent contained tomorrow night

BATTLEMENT MESA, Colo. - The Spring Creek 2 wildfire remains at 90 percent containment. The wildfire is expected to be 100 percent contained by 8:00 p.m. Thursday.

The lightning caused wildfire southeast of Parachute burned 621 acres, 4 out buildings, 3 trailers and 3 vehicles, but no primary residences.

Fire crews worked hard over the past six days to secure fire lines and primary structures in the area.

The Mesa County Sheriff's Office, Garfield County Sheriff's Office, Grand Valley Fire Protection District and the Bureau of Land Management will continue working on hot spots and patrolling the perimeter of the fire.

The public may see smoke and ash rising from the fire area as fuels continue to consume and burnout within the fire perimeter.
