Update: Hiker rescued underway


UPDATE:  The female hiker was rescued and taken to St. Mary's Hospital at approximately 5:00 p.m. Wednesday.

MESA COUNTY, Colo. –  A hiker rescue is now underway in the Colorado National Monument.

Members of the Mesa County Search and Rescue, Mesa County Sheriff’s Office, Grand Junction Fire Department, and Colorado National Monument Rangers responded to a call of an injured hiker at 10:18 a.m. Wednesday.


The 16-year-old female is believed to have non-life threatening injuries about a mile in the No Throughfare trail.

Rescue teams are working to bring the hiker back to safety. It's expected to take a few hours given the remote location.
