Not Yet 21, Arrested With Marijuana

Separate Marijuana Arrests, Under Legal Age Limit

Mesa County, Colo. -- In two recent, but separate arrests, deputies issued a summons to appear in court on possession of marijuana by a 20-year-old and an 18-year old. In November 2012, Colorado voters passed a decriminalization law allowing people 21 years and older, to possess up to one ounce of marijuana. 

Ted Place, 20, of Clifton, claimed ownership of marijuana and hash found in his possession, as well as in the vehicle of which he was a passenger. Ted was charged with one count each of Littering in Public, Possession of Marijuana Concentrate, Obstructing Government Operations, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of 2-6 ounces of Marijuana. He is scheduled to appear in court on October 6, at 8:15 a.m. (Special Note: No prior booking photo of Ted Place is in our system for release.)

Kyle White, 18, of Grand Junction, was contacted in the Pear Park area just before 4 a.m., on September 9, by patrol deputies. Two bags of marijuana were found to be bulging out of his sweatshirt pocket. Kyle is currently on probation for a previous criminal mischief charge. He was charged with one count of Possession of Marijuana, in this incident.
